The PCR Foundation was founded in South-Kivu in 2006, by Samuel Muderwha and his wife Faida Rachel, both originally from the Eastern provinces of DRC.
Samuel Muderwha
Founder & Coordinator
Samuel is a mediator and works hard to bring about change. He never gives up and believes wholeheartedly in making the impossible possible. Samuel was born and raised in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, which borders Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania. Samuel is deeply connected to the region and the people, knows their needs and enjoys their trust.
Samuel has also lived abroad: seven years in Kenya and almost a year in Cyprus. His work moreover took him to the United States several times, Holland and other countries in Europe, Israel and Türkiye. In addition, of course, to countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Ethiopia, and other neighboring African countries.
The foresight that he gained thanks to his many travels and his open-mindedness helped him to see other possible paths and great potential. In the end, these paths consciously led him back to the DRC, with the conviction and with the intention to enrich his connection with his country through all the meaningful connections and valuable insights that he was able to make abroad.
The choice he consciously made to create the PCR Foundation serves as a valuable symbol for the people the foundation supports. It shows: you too have a choice. The choice to take your destiny into your own hands. Samuel supports this every day with all the strength and love with which he leads, coordinates and shares the organization's work and in charge with national and international relationship

Rachel was born and raised in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. She is a trained teacher and entrepreneur with a focus on artisanal work. Rachel worked as teacher and seamstress for many years and with that got to know the children's circumstances, the needs of the schools and the craft needs first hand.
Rachel and Samuel first met through a choir they both attended. When Rachel met Samuel, she was impressed by his warm-hearted, always friendly nature and Samuel's characteristic smile. The two shared common values and decided to share a life: after 2 years together Rachel married Samuel in 1999. They have 5 children. Their union was the beginning of a long mutual journey which eventually led them to together launch the PCR Foundation.
Rachel studied Entrepreneurship and trained as a mediator and counselor in Kenya, completed her Study in Women leadership studies at EMIT Institute. She believes in equality and that our differences and diversity do not have to divide us, but always offer potential for synergy and complementarity. The way to achieve this is nonviolent communication, unbiased integration and mutual understanding. Since the very beginning, Rachel has been an indispensable cornerstone of PCR.
